      <image:title>Restoration Partnership - Partnership makes it possible.</image:title>
<image:caption>The Resurrection Creek Phase II Restoration Project is made possible by a unique partnership between Trout Unlimited, Kinross Alaska, Hope Mining Company, the National Forest Foundation, and the Forest Service. Although the project had public support and the Forest Service completed its environmental review for Phase II in 2015, a lack of funding and limited resources caused the project to stall for years. Phase II began to gain steam in earnest in early 2021 when Trout Unlimited and Kinross Alaska jointly formed the Alaska Abandoned Mine Restoration Initiative and provided the spark that was needed to the get the project going. The Initiative is the first partnership of its kind in Alaska, where a non-profit conservation organization and a major mining company are working side-by-side to restore important salmon habitat and mitigate the impact of historic mining. It is an opportunity to demonstrate a joint commitment to responsible resource development for the benefit of the Alaska economy while caring for the waterways, lands and fish that are so important for our communities and future generations.</image:caption>

<image:title>Phase II Restoration - The success of Phase I made it increasingly apparent additional restoration would likely have similar benefits along other sections of Resurrection Creek, and the Forest Service began planning for Phase II. Without active restoration, this prime habitat in the heart of the Chugach National Forest would never return to the thriving fish and wildlife habitat it once was. Similar to the Phase I project area, hydraulic mining at the turn of the century had degraded the main stream channel farther downstream; however, this area lies within active mining claims held by the Hope Mining Company. Through a collaboration between the Hope Mining Company and the Forest Service, a restoration corridor was established to allow in-stream and riparian restoration to take place alongside nearby mining activities. This coordination is essential to the success of the project.</image:title>

<image:title>History - Resurrection Creek flows out of the Western Kenai Mountains into Turnagain Arm alongside the community of Hope, Alaska. The lower six miles of Resurrection Creek are critical spawning and rearing habitat for Chinook, coho, chum and pink salmon. The surrounding lands provide habitat for bears, moose, bald eagles, and other wildlife.</image:title>
